Environmental Field Trips

The PVWD sponsors Educational Environmental field trips for schools and daycares which covers the bus driver's wage and mileage. PVWD has to pre-approve the field trip (Oak Hammock Marsh, Binney Nature Preserve, etc.). Contact the office for more details and information.

Riparian Area Health Series 

In partnership with the University of Manitoba, students have created content to increase awareness of watershed health and encourage farmers to switch to more sustainable agricultural practices. 

Geocaching 

All over Manitoba are hidden treasures just waiting to be found! PVWD has placed geocaches around the district to highlight our projects. You can fine our geocaches and many others by downloading their free app or visiting their website

Teachers Guide to Climate Change and Wetland Awareness 

Ducks Unlimited recently released a resource pack for teachers on climate change grades 7 and up.

Wildlife Management Areas

The Manitoba Wildlife Act provides for the designation of Crown lands as Wildlife Management Areas (WMA's) for the "better management, conservation and enhancement of the wildlife resource of the province.

Resources such as soil, water, forests and wildlife are all interrelated. Altering any single resource may indirectly or directly affect other resources. The Pembina Valley Watershed District sees the benefits composting can provide our resources. Backyard composting and vermi composting (using red wriggler worms) are both great ways individuals and families can "recycle" their organic matter.
